Cryogenic Publications:
1996  see note "SINGLE-ELECTRON TUNNELING FROM BOUND STATES ON THE SURFACE OF LIQUID HELIUM." By Gordon F. Saville, John M. Goodkind, and P.M. Platzman. Physical Review Letters Vol. 70, No. 10, p. 1517, Mar 1993. Abstract--We have measured tunneling rates for the escape of electrons from the surface of liquid helium. They agree with calculated results using a 1D image potential previously determined by spectroscopy and a static, single-particle term incorporating the dynamics of the 2D electron gas. (My unpublished work on this continuing experiment involved injecting a microwave driving source in order to search for chaotic tunneling).
